Articulation of /k/ and /c/ sound

1.Tongue placement technique- To improve clarity of speech?

To improve clarity of speech and learn /k/ first sit in front of a mirror with your child, so that your child can get visual and auditory feedback.

Now, put a tongue depressor on the tip of your child’s tongue and say /k/. You need to do it a few times and make him practice through the repetition. Repetition works very well with the articulation.

2.   Consonant- vowel level(CVCV level)-To improve clarity of speech

Now practice it in two simple steps:

a) CV level- ka, ki, ku, ke, ko

b) CVCV level- kaka, kiki, kuku, keke, koko

3. /k/ at the initial level or beginning of the words–To improve clarity of speech

Now practice /k/ at the beginning of words, you can check the picture worksheet and practice one word at least 10 times or more depending on the child’s interest.

You can play games using the same objects or words in the worksheet.

9. /k/ in structured question and answers

Ask questions where your child can give answers using more /k/ words. Make a question sheet and include questions where answer should be contaning words with /k/ sound. Gradually move on more spontaneous questions and observe clarity of the sound in conversation.
